Prime Minister Viktor Orban held talks with Hunor Kelemen, the president of Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (RMDSZ), in Bucharest on Monday, where Orban is attending a Central-Eastern Europe-China summit, Orban’s press chief told MTI.
At their meeting at the Hungarian embassy, Kelemen briefed the Hungarian premier about the Romanian government’s decentralisation decision and its consequences, Bertalan Havasi said.
They discussed preparations for next year’s European Parliamentary elections in connection with which the RMDSZ leader called maintaining a strong representation of Hungarians and their ethnic community of Romania in Strasbourg important, Havasi said.
Orban stated the Hungarian government’s continued support for and cooperation with Romania’s ethnic Hungarian community and their political representations on every issue, the press chief said.
